Why this ridge

We chose the Swell because it does not forgive. The boulder field on the upper section is wheel-high granite with off-camber exits — the kind of ground that exposes every lie a suspension ever told. If the machine could look calm here, it would look calm anywhere.

How we shot it

The plan was two days; the light gave us three. Midday sun flattened every rock face into grey paper, so we camped on the plateau and waited for the last hour before dusk, when the dust our tires kicked up would hang in the backlight like smoke. The final sequence was shot in a single 38-minute window.

There is no stabilization trick in the footage and no hidden ramp. What you see is the chassis doing its ordinary work: four motors vectoring torque, the wheel-legs stepping over blocks, the seat staying level enough that our rider drank coffee on the way up. We asked him to do that. It remains our favorite detail.

What the machine is doing

Watch the front left corner at the crux: the wheel lifts, reads the ledge, and the VCU re-balances torque before the chassis can pitch. That decision loop runs every 10 milliseconds. The rider’s job was to pick a line and hold the throttle — the same job it should be.
